Girls, Girls, Girls

I am pumped for Lena Dunham’s new show Girls to premiere tonight on HBO. Here is a recent article about the series from The New York Times (photo). I really enjoyed her film, Tiny Furniture. As part of the Grrrrl Power generation (I basically majored in zines with a minor in Reviving Ophelia), I love anything about young women coming of age—as adolescents or adults. With such a real voice, I’m happy Dunham has so much creative control over the series. And the supporting cast is super talented–including Zosia Mamet, whom you will recognize from Mad Men and Parenthood, and Allison Williams, daughter of spunky music-loving news anchor Brian Williams. I was impressed with Ms. Williams’ recent appearance on Letterman. She’s quick witted, smart, and cute.

In other girl news, Damsels in Distress and Life Happens, a film co-written by Krysten Ritter, opened this weekend.
